Senior Numismatic Photographer (PCGS)
Summary: This position will primarily involve coin photography for the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), a division of Collectors Universe Inc. Photographs will be used for our online encyclopedia, for our customers, and for other internal use. Photographing coins is very demanding. Images must comport with the exacting standards of our clientele and our numismatic experts. This work will be repetitive, will require focus, and will involve working closely with a small team. A two-year commitment to this position is required. This work will also involve working with some of the greatest treasures of American and World history.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform the job successfully, the Senior Numismatic Photographer, must demonstrate the following:
Education and/or Experience: University degree or college diploma required. Experience in numismatic and photography strongly preferred.
Language Skills: Fluent in English. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; ability to write correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization at multiple levels of employment/management. Although it is not a requirement, fluency in Mandarin Chinese would be a huge plus, and would entail additional travel to our Hong Kong and Shanghai offices.
Photography Skills: Must have knowledge of Canon EOS system. Must have knowledge in lighting and other manual photographic techniques.
Computer Skills: Must be familiar with the MacIntosh OSX environment. Must have advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, including knowledge of color correction, and hot keys in order to prepare documents quickly.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time; Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, e-mail correspondences, to receive ordinary information and to prepare, inspect and receive submissions. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment: This job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting, or convention center meeting room. Activities include extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer, sitting and standing for extended periods of time while taking photographs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with an occasional fluctuation. Occasional travel may be required.
